What we do in Hicksville

Selden is 26 miles away, so a Hicksville estimate usually happens within a day or two of your call. Repairs get the same free written estimate as a full replacement, and after storm damage we photograph everything and write a scope you can hand to your insurance adjuster. Every roof is installed to GAF's specification, which is what keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid. Our own crew does the work, and every call about your job goes straight to David, the owner.

What Hicksville roofs usually need

Postwar capes, ranches and splits

Hicksville grew quickly after World War II, and most of its houses are capes, ranches and split-levels from that building boom. A house that age has been re-roofed more than once, and some carry two layers of shingles. A full tear-off is the only way to see the condition of the deck underneath.

Dormers, extensions and low slopes

Many of those houses have been expanded with dormers, second floors or rear extensions. Each addition leaves a joint between old roof and new, and extensions often have a slope too low for shingles. Those sections get a flat-roof membrane tied into the shingles above.

Stores and offices on Broadway

Broadway and Old Country Road are lined with shopping centers, storefronts and small office buildings, most of them flat-roofed. Ponding water, split seams and clogged drains are the usual trouble. We repair and replace these roofs for owners and property managers. See commercial roofing.

Nassau license and permits

Hicksville is an unincorporated hamlet, ZIP 11801, so permits go through the Town of Oyster Bay. We are licensed in Nassau County (196461). Where the work requires a permit, we pull it and it is included in the price.

Hicksville roofing questions

Can you shingle over my existing roof?

We don't recommend it. A second layer hides deck rot, adds weight and traps heat. On an older Hicksville house that already has two layers, a tear-off is the right job.

Are you licensed to work in Nassau County?

Yes. We hold Nassau County Home Improvement License 196461, as well as Suffolk County and New York City licenses.

Do you come out to Hicksville from Selden?

Yes. It is about 26 miles, and our own in-house crew does the work. An estimate usually happens within a day or two of your call to 631-404-9022.

Reviews from across Long Island

There aren’t enough words to describe and express how much I appreciate this company and its dedication. David helped me through the entire process along with my aunt , we both couldn’t be more grateful and happy with the work done on my roof . I highly recommend David and his company you can rest assured everything with them will be perfect.
Dave was prompt, reliable, affordable and the work was perfect. I had a shed roof installed and the next day e had a torrential rain and wind storm that tested his work. Shed rood was in tact and the shed was bone dry. I would recommend LI Taylor Construction for any of your construction needs.
