Wrapped before the first shingle came off

Tear-off is the messy part. Before it started, the crew hung tarps over the siding, the stone veneer, the windows and the shrubs, and laid plywood and more tarps across the paver driveway and the lawn. Nails and old shingles landed on the tarps, not the house.

Down to the deck, then back up in a day

Every old shingle and the underlayment came off so the plywood could be checked. New synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield at the eaves and valleys, then GAF architectural shingles nailed in straight courses. The crew started early and the roof was closed up the same day.

Big roofs, steep pitches

The two-story colonials in Holtsville's newer developments have a lot of roof: tall gables, long valleys and dormers. That takes a full crew, proper staging and a magnetic sweep of the lawn at the end. It also makes ventilation matter, so we check the ridge vent and soffit intake on every one.
